Mortgage Loan Processor

Summary

To process and prepare mortgage loans for closing under various loan programs (portfolio, government, secondary market, construction/perm, purchase and refinance) in accordance with BCT and secondary market policies and procedures.
 

Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
 
Production
Ensure the timely and accurate processing of mortgage loan files 
Complete processing tasks within the established time frames
Maintain pipeline flow to ensure loans close on time 
 
Client Service
Ability to meet the public well and to deal effectively with their questions or problems. Must adhere to BCT “Monster Service” principals consistently
Ability to interact (in person, phone, and electronic communication) with the public well and to deal effectively with their questions or problems
Knows the Bank’s products and services thoroughly and seeks out opportunities to explain, promote, or sell products/services
Continuously demonstrates a helpful, friendly attitude and is committed to providing excellent client service
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees and officials in other departments
 
Processing Functions
Analyze applications and automated findings reports for accuracy and address discrepancies as needed, by making corrections utilizing knowledge of various program requirements, prior to submission to underwriting.
Submit loans to underwriting according to various investors submission processes and requirements.
Gather information and ensure the loan package meets the specific guidelines by verifying supporting documents including income, assets, credit, appraisal, homeowner’s insurance and title documents.
Review loan approval requirements and translate requirements to the parties
Complete vendor orders for loan processing; title, appraisal, insurance, etc.
Meet established turn times for submission to underwriting, ordering services, and communicating status updates to all parties.
Maintains cancel/denied/withdrawn registrations 
Backup daily accounting functions as needed
Compose and proofread routine correspondence, reports and manuals for departments using computer skills and word processing software
Assists manager and staff with administrative duties 
 
Security
Maintain neat and orderly work area and ensures that all negotiable and confidential records are properly secured
Understand role in case of robbery
Professional appearance that evokes the customer’s trust
Adhere to all bank policies and procedures and to internal controls and system access restrictions
 
Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS  
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with at least 2 years of mortgage processing experience
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 
Position demands a person with a pleasant and professional personality, high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, good organization skills, and excellent customer service skills

Must have basic skills in operating a computer, adding machine and typewriter

Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats, maintaining a clear and understandable manner 
Ability to answer telephones and greet public in a friendly and courteous manner
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
